KOLASThe Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) was established on December 8, 1992, and is a government accreditation body managed by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS). KOLAS actively participates in international activities related to testing, calibration, and inspection in cooperation with the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) and the International Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). KOLAS signed the APLAC MRA (at that time, the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Arrangement) for testing in Sydney on October 23, 1998, and the agreement for calibration on May 22, 2001. Since then, the APAC MRA membership has expanded to 27 members from 17 economies. KOLAS is also a signatory member of the ILAC MRA (International Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Arrangement), which was signed in Washington D.C. on November 2, 2000. Currently, this arrangement includes 90 member organizations from 87 economies. The ILAC arrangement will provide a technical basis for international trade by promoting the confidence of stakeholders across borders and the acceptance of accredited testing, calibration, and inspection results. KOLAS operates in accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17011 (Conformity assessment - Requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment 1 bodies) and provides accreditation services not only for testing and calibration laboratories but also for inspection bodies.
